The boards of stripes to addition and subtraction match excellently to practise. Especially the transition of ten is illustrated effectively. The geometric presentation of the practise facilitates the learning of the exercises. Application examples: 1. Addition: a blue stripe is set, take the example of 4, then the red stripe ,which has to be added, is set on, take the example of 5. The child might count up the value or might get the result in counting. 2.Subtraction The child chooses the practise, take the example of 6 – (minus) 4 , this means the numeric area from 7 to 18 will be hidden or covered with a white stripe. Now the child shall set the red stripe of 4 at the value of 6. The remaining empty small fields show the result of the arithmetic operation. 3. Control for success: in counting or in reading The article contains: 1 board of addition, 1 board of subtraction, 18 red -, 18 blue -, and 17 controlling stripes. Material: wood, partly varnished Proportions: board of addition and subtraction, each approx. 41 x 28 cm; stripe: each approx. 2 cm; the length depends on the respective value
